This probably won't be a surprise to most of you, but as it stands, we've decided the current state of the game isn't working out. After careful consideration, we've decided that it would be in everyone's best interest to temporarily close the game and restructure. We got a rough start this time, but we feel we've learned some things that will help make the game smoother and more fun when we reopen. As of right now, we haven't determined a date for reopening, but we'll keep you posted.

Thank you all for playing! Anyone who played in the current round will be able to play the same characters again without submitting another application, so we hope you'll all consider picking your characters back up when the game reopens. If any of you would like to provide feedback to help us improve the game for the future, you're welcome to comment here or send a PM to the mod journal with your comments.

The results are in!

The RNG has declared that on Day 23 (OOC 4/15) Junpei will kill Vex. The two players involved are free to thread out the action as they see fit, and may start whenever they choose. There's no need to wait until the 15th to start threading.

As for AC:

As a result of the activity check, the following players have been dropped from the game:
grimalkid
goregies

This Week's Happenings

Janet is still missing without a trace, and now Josh and Cat-Eyed Boy will be, too. People who seem to be doing some kind of work at the facility may walk by on their way from one typically locked door to another, but none of them seem interested in talking, and definitely won't give any answers with regard to the missing people. Otherwise, not much of interest is going on for now.

The Forecast

The courtyard weather is still sunny but will turn to drizzle by the end of the week. In a similar vein, anyone with any form of precognitive ability may have an increasing foreboding sense that whatever happened when Janet disappeared is going to happen again, and may even have an idea that it will involve Junpei and Vex--though exactly in what capacity will be unclear.

Hello everyone! It's time for another round of murder check-in and your first activity check. As we've already mentioned, activity check rules are slightly modified this time since we all got off to a rough start this first month. So here are the activity guidelines for this time:

  • For full AC, you can turn in one thread with at least five comments from your character, and five more comments split over as many threads as needed.
  • For half AC, you can turn in a total of at least five comments, split over as many threads as needed. With half AC, you will take a strike, but can continue playing.

Threads from the two recent test drive memes can be used for AC, but can only be used for one of the two proofs. New characters are exempt from AC for this round.

Now, for your weekly murder incentive. Your character will find a note slipped under their door with the following message: REWARD: One new outfit in a style of your choosing, plus an outfit for whomever else you choose. Again, the paper is blank aside from this, though after last time, characters may have a better idea of what it means.

Since new characters haven't gotten a chance to play or to form bonds yet, they are exempt from being victims for this round, and the check-in is optional. That said, if you'd like to put them in the running to be the murderer, feel free to fill out the form below, minus AC.

Please turn in all responses by 11:59 PM EST on April 7.

Hello! Funny story, I'm actually one of the people who helps with the apps, but I hadn't actually apped myself last round. My name is Akino, and I'll be playing Yui Kanzaki from Kamen Rider Ryuki. She might come off as a little guarded at times, but unless you're really good at pissing people off, she's going to be pretty nice to you.

Also, if there's anything you need, just let me know!

Congratulations, some information has been discovered!

As your characters wake in their beds as opposed to wherever they were last night, a few of them might also notice something different about them. Those who Janet felt close to will have two tattoos, one a red line around their pinky finger, and one of another shape elsewhere on their body. (The list given on the check-in includes Alphys, *Hyun-ae, and Kayo. We're still working with Janet's player on who's getting exactly what so we'll update the relevant people when we have specifics.)

Additionally, Janet named Alphys as her strongest bond, and it turns out that's a position of distinction. Alphys will wake up aware of a new ability she didn't have the night before. Namely, one of Janet's. We'll contact Alphys's player to work out the details of the power transfer.

    Welcome:

The room you appear in, ripped from wherever you had been a moment ago, is cold and uninteresting. White walls, tile floors, and nothing to look at save for the woman in generic business dress holding a clipboard. Stuck over her heart is a "Hello My Name Is" sticker decorated with little hearts and stars and proclaiming in several colors that her name is Erika. The friendliness of the sticker stands in sharp contrast to her personality. She hands you a room key and shoves you out the door with hardly a word.

Outside, you may find people who have just been through the same uninformative welcome, plus a few who may have been there slightly longer but likely won't have many more answers. Whatever you might think of the odd welcome, you get a distinct sense that it would be in your interest to get to know some of these people.

    Entertainment options:

It seems the powers that be have paid some attention to their comment box since the last meet and greet. The DVD cases are all filled with different DVDs now, though they just seem to have expanded to a much larger collection of extremely mediocre romantic comedies. The video game selection still consists of one party game... Several different copies of the same party game.

Additionally a CD player and speaker system have been added alongside a cleared out part of the hobby room that might serve as a dance floor. Beside the CD player are a stack of CDs, most of which consist of what seem to be pop songs (there's likely something familiar to every character, no matter where they came from originally) all sung very enthusiastically by children. There's one CD in the mix that doesn't fit that mold, and it's... interesting.

    A Bonding Exercise:

In the kitchen, you'll find a lot of supplies for making hot cocoa. Maybe whoever stocked the kitchen decided that would be a fun treat for everyone. Unfortunately, anyone attempting to make some for themselves will find that it comes out somehow odd. The taste is off, or maybe it tastes fine but cools off immediately. Luckily, there is a solution to the problem: you just have to get someone else to make it for you. For whatever reason, any cup of cocoa intended for someone other than the person making it will escape all the problems, and it will come out perfectly. Here's hoping that person will be nice enough to make you one in return.

Welcome to the Test Drive Meme for Red Thread. Feel free to try out whatever characters you like in the confines of our modest facility. Any threads played out on this meme are optional game canon; that means anything you play in this thread can be kept in your character's memory or not as you choose. Have fun, and please refer to the FAQ for more information about how this setting works.

    The results are in!

The RNG has declared that on Day 13 (OOC 3/25) Cat-Eyed Boy will kill Janet. The two players involved are free to thread out the action as they see fit, and may start whenever they choose. There's no need to wait until the 25th to start threading.

    This Week's Happenings

Everything seems normal this week, with the exception of another unfamiliar person wandering around. At least this one is alive, unlike last week's mystery corpse, and friendly, unlike the greeter. In fact, he might try to introduce himself to everyone. Look for an NPC log to be posted sometime in the next few days.

    The Forecast

It's clear and sunny in the courtyard, and the psychic atmosphere seems equally pleasant. That is, until it passes midnight on Day 13. That's when the murder mindset kicks in for the first time, and when they'll finally understand what that "reward" was for. Please refer to the murder and death page for information about what characters will experience.

    IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE MODS

We'd like to take this opportunity to clarify the rules; replying to each murder check-in is mandatory for AC. On this one, we forgot to post a definite end time, so we've chosen to overlook those who didn't get the information in. In the future, we'll post a defined end time on the check-in posts. Accidentally missing one check-in won't result in being immediately dropped from the game (provided you meet AC otherwise) but will count as a strike.

On this morning, your character wakes up with a note slipped under their door. It lists a reward on the paper, but nothing else: Examining the paper for any other information will come up with nothing. The reward written down is REWARD: One of your items imbued with powers of protection.

Put simply... It's check-in time! With the first murder occurring, we need a little information from you guys. Please fill out the following form for each character and paste it into a comment below:

    Welcome, one and all!

We hope everyone's settling into their rooms fine and enjoying their randomly selected roommates. There aren't any further clues for your characters about why they might have been brought here, but it seems like a nice enough place--or is it? Maybe that has yet to be seen.

    This Week's Happenings

Over the next few days (IC 3-5, OOC 3/4-3/10), you may wake to find that one of your possessions has vanished from your room - and something you probably don't recognize has shown up in its place. Which, if you ask around, turns out to belong to someone else. It looks like someone has been switching your possessions around! No one's sure who, though. For whatever reason, you can't manage to be awake to catch them. Even if you're determined to stay up all night, you'll end up falling asleep at some point, and whoever or whatever has been moving things will get in without notice. But keeping track of your things is as good a reason as any to talk to your neighbors, right?

    The Forecast

The weather doesn't mean much in the facility, though the glass ceiling of the courtyard area makes it clear it's a bit drizzly off and on. But let's talk about another kind of climate. The general sense everyone has that getting to know one another is important will continue steadily as usual. That said, anyone with any sort of precognitive ability might get the sense that something will happen at the end of the week. Exactly what is unclear, but it seems to be cause for some uneasiness.

Look for an event mingle to be posted on 3/11!

Hello, all potential players! We have a question for you about scheduling. We plan to have check-ins about the status of character bonds approximately every two weeks, followed by an announcement of who's killing who one week in advance of the actual murder. For the sake of everyone's convenience, we think it makes sense to attach AC to every other check-in.

With that in mind, which of the following options would be more convenient for you as a player?

    1. Scheduled by the month: The first check-in and AC go up in the first week of the month, with the resulting murder happening on the 14th. The second check-in goes up after the first murder, and the resulting murder would happen on the 28th. This would lead to the murders being slightly irregularly spaced since there would be a couple extra days at the end of most months, and the murders would happen on different days of the week depending on the month.

    2. Scheduled by the week: Check-ins are posted every other week, announcement of the murder happens the following Saturday, and the murder happens the Saturday after that. AC would be attached to every other check-in. This would mean AC would be very slightly closer together at once every four weeks as opposed to once a month, and wouldn't be in the same part of the month consistently, but that murders would be guaranteed to happen on weekends.

    3. Something else: If you have any other suggestions, feel free to post them in the comments.

We want to make sure the schedule is both easy to keep track of and convenient for our player base, so thank you for providing input!
